Spaced Bwi Bwi
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
It's sunday night, and Space Bwi Bwi is the only open place (where you won't get assaulted by non-Federation space pirates) in the vicinity.
Join our 2-person team, our cook (and former aforementioned assaulter) Cassandra, and Rufus, our overeager waiter, in a cosmic ballet to serve awesome dishes to a variety of hungry (and somewhat demanding) customers !
You still have a few minutes left before the diner closes. Try to make the most of it.
Embrace a gameplay centered on imperfect communication: Rufus will have to describe delicious (ie French) meals to Cassandra with unnerving fuzzy keywords, and she'll have to try to understand what is required.
Will the patrons be satisfied ?
Will the tips be sufficient to keep Space Bwi-Bwi open in the future ?
You tell us!
Disclaimers :
Space Bwi Bwi does NOT care about your allergies. Don''t kick the jukebox.
How to play
You'll have 5 minutes to serve as many patrons as you can. The more satisfied they are, the more tips you'll earn.
Try to maximize your score !
This a 2 player networked game, so a bit of setup may be required.
If the host and the client want to play on a unique computer. The game is not designed for that but this is possible :
- Run the game twice on the same computer. You will need to pass the controls sometimes and each is not allowed to see the other's screen.
- On one window, click "create server".
- On the other, you do not need to enter an IP address, just click "join server".
If the host and the client are on 2 computers in LAN (= connected to the same network) :
- Both launch the game : on Windows, both will get a firewall prompt, you need to authorize the connection.
- Then the host communicates their local IP which is shown on screen to the client, and clicks "create server". The client enters that IP and clicks "join server".
However if the host and the client are not in LAN, there is some more work to do :
- If the host does not have UPNP, they'll need to configure NAT to allow UDP port 22017.
- Then, the host must find their public IP and communicate that IP to the client.
- Both launch the game. On Windows, both will get a firewall prompt when running the game : you need to authorize the connection.
- The host clicks "create server". The client enters the host's public IP (communicated on step 2) and clicks "join server".
Now, here's how the game goes:
The dining room
Patrons will enter Space Bwi Bwi and will choose a table.
You'll move Rufus, with the keyboard arrows. Go near a patron and click him, you'll see the meal he wants to order.
Try to describe it with the keywords, and send the order to Cassandra ! To leave the table's close-up view, click outside.
She will hopefully make a matching plate (or bowl). Go near the tray, take it and deliver it to the patron.
He will tell you how satisfied he is. Try to improve your communication with Cassandra for the next one and cash in!
The kitchen
Rufus will send you notes with a few keywords.
With the mouse, select a bowl or a plate, and try to compose a matching meal with all the ingredients on the right side.
If you're not satisfied, there's always a garbage pail!
At some point you'll want to send it back to Rufus so that he can deliver it, and you'll get feedback in your journal available in the bottom right corner.
Rufus is doing his best, so hopefully the next meal will be easier to compose!

It seems that testers may have difficulties to play the game due to the network setup, sorry about that. Please read the (just updated) instructions carefully !
